Who is required?
A PhD student to conduct studies on carbon (C) sequestration in volcanic soils in the south of Chile. 


Work
The research should have direct applicability to the farmers and analyze the carbon sequestration mechanisms in volcanic soils and will be based on stable isotope (13C and 15N) data analyses and modeling. The research will include the life cycle assessments to identify the key variables in grassland and crop rotation for livestock production.

Start
As early as possible in 2022.

Qualifications
• Master of Science in Soil Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Crop Science, or Environmental Sciences; or Bachelor of Science in one of these field PLUS research experience on isotopes applications.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills in English, and ability to work on multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness and availability to conduct research at farmers’ fields located away from La Frontera campus.

Scholarship
US$ 12,250 per year (including the fee for the Doctoral Program in Natural Resources Sciences, https://doctoradorrnn.ufro.cl).
