Mission: training highly qualified personnel in the field of agriculture and agroecology in order to produce environmentally safe agricultural products

History and Traditions

The department of Agriculture has been created in 1955 on the basis of the Аgronomics department. The first chief of the department was Prof. V.T. Makarov, the former rector of Tomsk State University, who was invited to head the department. In 1976 - 1979 Prof. A.P .Jakovlev was the chief of the department. Prof. E.A. Dmitriev held the department within 20 years (1979-1999). The department is now managed by Prof. P.N. Balabko.

Scientific activity of the department

  • Biologized technology of growing potatoes on sod-podzolic soils in the Non-chernozem zone of Russia. A phytotron was built at the department to obtain virus-free seed potatoes. Three thousand microtubules are grown annually (Head of the Department, D. Sc., Professor Petr Balabko, e-mail: Адрес электронной почты защищен от спам-ботов. • Forecasting the consequences of agricultural soil contamination with new ecotoxicants: carbon and silver nanoparticles (D. Sc. Nataliya Kulikova, e-mail: Адрес электронной почты защищен от спам-ботов. Для просмотра адреса в вашем браузере должен быть включен Javascript.)

  • Analysis of the temporal and spatial variability of the soil cover of agricultural land establishing the limits of applicability of some mathematical equations that allow to assess the soils quality (D. Sc. Vera Samsonva, e-mail: Адрес электронной почты защищен от спам-ботов. Для просмотра адреса в вашем браузере должен быть включен Javascript.)
